I have a specific passion about cities, I love markets. There is a special energy for me in those places, so many people, so much energy, everything is moving and fast. It’s energetic for me, it’s a pure pleasure to walk around and see what there is and how people are. I think it’s a kind of book of the local society, I like to read it and to know how the people live in a certain area.
Sadovod is one of these places, the central market in Moscow where everything arrive before to go all around Russia. It is possible to buy wholesale or retail, almost everything. There are pets and everything related to them, accessories, clothes, house goods and a small garden center. Basically everything come here before to go to shops. Prices are great, you should negotiate a bit it’s not common to have fixed prices but you will see almost 50% compared to normal shops.
How to arrive to Sadovod
By public transportation: the cheapest way to come to the market is to arrive by metro at the station Lyublino (Люблино) on the light green line: number 10 (click here for the map). Once you get out from the station you have to looking for the minibus 518k (Маршрутка), but you will not miss it. People will call you from the metro station, just pay attention to go to the minibus and not the taxi, nothing will happen, just more expensive. Price for minibus is 45rub and you pay cash to the driver, it is not possible to use the card Troika. By car, taxi: just tell to the driver Sadovod Rynok, everyone knows it. This is the exact adress – 14th km of Moscow Ring Road (inner side) Ulitsa Verkhniye Polya, Moskva – and in Cyrillic – 14-ый км МКАД (внутренняя сторона) ул. Верхние поля.

How big is the market?
Market is big, I really cannot describe it, it’s huge, very huge and they are building right now more spaces to increase the offer. There are more than 8000 shops, can you have an idea about it? When I was in Italy, my country, a huge shopping center had a few hundred shops and I considered it enormous. I don’t think that I can have, even now, a proper idea of the real dimensions. Sadovod is organized in different buildings, the main place has 33 lines with shops with different quality and prices, than there is another big building with 3 floors where you can also find shops for clothes and accessorizes. Outside there is a section for animals and everything related to pets: from snakes to cats. Another external part is dedicated to home goods and plants.
What about food?
In such a big place you can find different traditional food, from ex USSR republics or fast food. Most of the places are located in the central court, but you can see small places almost all around the places, inside and outside the main building.
