Marco New language, new alphabet and new currency. To book a cab it is always a bet in many countries. In Moscow and in Russia it is extremely easy, cheap and safe. I will explain you how to do it without any problem and really fast.
Go in the street and to make a call for a taxi is a bit hard in any countries. How much it will be? They will use a proper way or they will just go around to make me spend more money? I don’t speak the language, how can I do it?
In Moscow and generally in the main Russian cities it is extremely easy, just download an app and book your favorite company.
Which taxi companies exist in Moscow?
There are many companies you can use in the city, there is the public company, but I will tell you that almost no Russian use it, only if you are really in hurry, but I suggest you to agree about the price before to use it. You will also see on the street many unofficial taxi, people do it to have a bit of money, I never used it I cannot tell how to manage them but is not official and not legal, better to don’t go with them if you don’t speak Russian language and if you don’t know how they work.
Beside that there are many private official companies, safe and easy to use. Every taxi company has its own app and you can download it.

Official cabs are yellow or white, they should have a taxi sign on the top and you should see the taxi driver license. I write should because sometime happened that I didn’t see it, but I order taxi from an official app. I cannot explain why, but it was safe and normal.
Every company has a different app, you can download it for apple or android and they work always in the same way. You can set up your position using GPS on your phone or edit it manually, than you will decide where do you want to go and select the type of taxi: economy, business, for kids, minivan ….
You will see the price the time and you will see the model of the car and plate number, you have te cab position on the screen and see at what time it will arrive.
Also to pay it is easy and safe, never happened to me that someone tried to cheat me. Pay cash to the driver or through the application by card.

This app is awesome, select where you want to go and from which place, than you can easily check the price of every company available and also car sharing service. When you decided your favorite cab company, click on it and open the official app, than you can finish your order and go to your place.
How much is it?
Cabs in Russia are not so expensive, they are quite affordable at least some time. Just to give you an example, the average price from the airport to city center is 1000-1500 rub. Consider that can be one hour and around 40km. If you order a taxi in the city, not during rush hour, you will pay 5-600 rub. So it’s a service that you can use if you need and you will not pay too much like in other countries.
