Marco Anton is one of those people that fascinates. He has a passion, he has a problem, he has a dream, he brings all these elements together and creates something that didn’t exist before. The passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and the non-safety of Moscow traffic led him to create a custom bike. Today anyone can go to him and have their own unique and personal custom chopper electric bike built!
Let’s start with the name: MEGAVEL. Mega we all know what it means, vel is short for the Russian word velociped, which means bicycle. We are therefore talking about mega bikes. Anton welcomes us to his Moscow workshop. The first thing that amazes us is the extreme cleanliness! Normally the workshops are places with a specific, acrid and pungent smell, here no, there is no oil, there is no grease. A bright, clean and relaxed workplace. There are not many bikes on display, some are being worked on, others are finished, everything is made to measure and made to order. The colors of the paints are tested and the different elements are assembled to personalize the bicycle. Lights, arrows, saddles, bags, handlebars, wheels, everything is unique, everything is personalized, everything is handmade exclusively for the customer!
But how Anton started, we asked him in our interview, the answer was simple, as it should be. He liked motorcycles, but he was afraid to go on the street in Russia. He’s often wet and traffic is dangerous, so he’s made a bike that looks like a Harley for his personal use. He put a battery and started using it. People who saw him in his town in the Moscow region were immediately intrigued, so he began to produce some and sell them. The story comes from a simple thing: a problem and a solution found. Anton found the answer to a question from him and, doing it with passion and dedication, the group gradually expanded, opened his own workshop in Moscow and only by going on the street always attracts new contacts and interest. So it also happened for us who saw these decidedly ‘adventurous’ bicycles in a park in Moscow and through an internet search we understood that they were Megavels!
